Hi, I'm Alfreda Liu!
I’m an interaction design student focused on building systems that help people navigate complex, real-life situations. My work is driven by a strong belief that design should be useful, reliable, and able to support people when it matters most.
Rather than focusing only on visual outcomes, I’m interested in how design can reduce uncertainty, guide decisions, and translate complexity into clear, actionable experiences. I find the most meaning in projects where design directly helps people solve real problems.
One of the most important turning points in my work was the creation of an emergency medical application, inspired by personal family experiences and informed by interviews with other families. Through this process, I realized how fragmented information and unclear systems can increase stress in already critical moments. Since then, I have been particularly interested in healthcare, elderly users, and high-stakes scenarios where clarity and reliability are essential.
In the summer of 2023, I interned at Tencent, contributing to Tencent Meeting. I supported user research, problem analysis, and product iteration, gaining experience working within a large-scale, real-world product environment. This strengthened my ability to identify user pain points and translate insights into practical design decisions, while also learning how to collaborate across design, product, and engineering teams.
With a background in engineering thinking, game design, and interaction design, I approach design as a balance between human-centered care and system-level logic. I enjoy working across disciplines and can take projects from concept to implementation, aiming to create solutions that are not only thoughtful, but also functional, scalable, and grounded in real-world use.
